‘Inverness Strategy’ partnership approach for a thriving City
Today Inverness Councillors have approved an ambitious vision and strategy to guide future development and investment across the City. The vision aims to ensure Inverness and the City Centre remain the premier destination for residents, visitors and investors.
The ‘Inverness Strategy’ aims to make a strong case for future funding in the City and to help partners and communities work better together. Members agreed that the Inverness Futures Group “Inverness One City, One Vision”, facilitated by Drew Hendry MP, is integrated into the overall vision for the city.
Members noted the significant investment made to date and the 60+ projects (Full list included at Appendix 1 of the Committee report) that are underway or emerging that will help to deliver the strategy. In providing strong support for the work Councillors gave their approval for a range of in-person and online engagement sessions to be held to inform the future vision, key projects, and the developing masterplan for the city centre.
Ahead of the consultation the Council is working to develop a dedicated ‘Inverness portal’ webpage to provide a focal point for public engagement and communication on projects across the City.
Leader of Inverness and Area, Cllr Ian Brown said: “Highland Council’s ambition is that a clear single joined-up strategy is created, which will act as a blueprint for investment across the city. The Council ambition is that the Inverness Strategy will clearly set out the key projects that will be delivered and by whom - should the investment opportunities arise that enable development.”
“We look forward to working with Inverness communities, businesses and other groups to let them shape the future of the City.”
