Ceannard ùr ann an Loch Abar
Thathar air Marissa Melville a chur an dreuchd mar Cheannard ùr air Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar (BSGLA).
Tha a’ Bh-uas Melville air a bhith a’ teagasg airson 23 bliadhna – a’ mhòr-chuid dhiubh seo tron Ghàidhlig. Bidh i a’ fàgail na dreuchd aice mar Cheannard agus tidsear Gàidhlig ann an sgìre Earra-Ghàidheal is Bhòid a dh’aithghearr airson tilleadh dhan Ghàidhealtachd. Bha a’ Bh-uas Melville roimhe ag obair aig Bun-Sgoil Thunga ann an Cataibh.
A’ beachdachadh air an dreuchd ùir aice, thuirt i: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte a bhith a’ tilleadh chun na Gàidhealtachd airson dreuchd a ghabhail ann an sgoil Ghàidhlig.
“Mar phàrant le dithis chloinne ann am BSGLA, tha mi mothachail dha-rìribh gu bheil moit is pròis mun Ghàidhlig thar coimhearsnachd na sgoile air fad. Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith a’ cur eòlas oirbh sna mìosan a tha romhainn agus a bhith an lùib fealla-dhà na Nollaige air an ath theirm!
“Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart gu mòr ri tighinn gu Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar agus a bhith ag obair còmhla ri luchd-teagaisg, sgoilearan, pàrantan agus com-pàirtichean gus ar lèirsinn airson na sgoile a thoirt air adhart.”
Thuirt Cathraiche an Fhoghlaim, an Comhairliche Iain MacFhionnlaigh: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte fàilte a chur air Marissa mar Cheannard ùr air BSGLA agus tha mi cinnteach gum bi i a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith a’ tòiseachadh san dreuchd cho luath ’s a ghabhas agus a bhith ag obair còmhla ri sgoilearan, pàrantan agus a’ choimhearsnachd. Tha deagh eòlas aice air FtG mar-thà agus bidh e comasach dhi iomadh buannachd a thoirt chun na dreuchd sa bhad, aig àm fìor thrang dhen bhliadhna. Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ri tadhal air an sgoil a dh’aithghearr agus coinneachadh ri Marissa san dreuchd ùir aice.”
New Head Teacher appointed in Lochaber
Marissa Melville has been appointed as the new Head Teacher at Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar (BSGLA).
Ms Melville has been teaching for 23 years and has spent almost all of this time teaching through the medium of Gaelic. She will soon be leaving her current Head Teacher and Gaelic Medium Teacher post in the Argyll and Bute area to return to Highland. Ms Melville previously worked at Tongue Primary School in Sutherland.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am very happy to be returning to Highland to take up a post in a dedicated Gaelic school.
“As a parent with two children in BSGLA, I am very much aware of the positive ethos and sense of pride in the Gaelic language across the whole school community. I look forward to getting to know you all well in the coming months and joining in with the Christmas chaos of next term!
“I am very much looking forward to coming to Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar and working with staff, pupils, parents and partners in order to progress our vision for the school.”
Education Chair, Cllr John Finlayson added: “I am delighted to welcome Marissa as the new Head Teacher of BSGLA and I am sure she is looking forward to taking up post as soon as possible and to working with pupils, parents and the community in her new role. Her experience in GME will I am sure enable her to hit the ground running in the lead up to a very busy time of year and I look forward to visiting the school in the near future and to meeting Marissa in her new role.”
