Inverness Common Good Fund supporting local welfare projects
The Highland Council is pleased to confirm that over the past 3 years the Inverness Common Good Fund has supported 34 welfare related projects to the sum of £294,157.
Twenty-three organisations have received Inverness Common Good Funding for welfare projects that support those most in need in the Inverness area. These organisations include:
- Apex Scotland;
- Balloan Football Club;
- Blythswood Care;
- Care and Learning Alliance (CALA);
- Clarity Walk CIC;
- Highland Wildcats;
- Highlands and Islands Blood Bikes Inverness Motorcycle Response;
- Inverness Botanic Gardens - High Life Highland;
- Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club Development Project;
- Inverness Community Partnership
- Inverness High School;
- Inverness Shinty;
- Junior Parkrun;
- Keep Scotland Beautiful;
- Merkinch Partnership;
- MS Therapy Centre / The Oxygen Works;
- New Start Highland
- Partnerships For Wellbeing;
- Police Scotland;
- Scottish Highland & Islands and Moray Chinese Association;
- The ARCHIE Foundation;
- The Clay Studio; and
- The Libertie Project Limited.
In addition, as at 30 November £119,250 Winter Payments have been processed for 2022/23. People on low income can apply for a one-off payment of £150 from The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee 2022/23 winter payments scheme to help them with their winter fuel bills.
The total winter payments for 2021/22 was £253,841 and for 2020/21 was £147,748.
At a December meeting of the City of Inverness Area Committee Councillors approved a grant of £20,000 to Blythswood Care towards the Highland Foodbank 2023 and approved a grant of £14,342 to Apex Scotland towards the Highland Challenge Team.
Members also approved £38,294 Inverness Common Good Funding for Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) for 4 projects: Smart Scape (£9,997); Inverness Loves Local – Especially at Christmas (£5,900); Festive Parking (£9,950); and Operation Respect Festive (£12,447).
