£100,000 secured by four Black Isle community projects
Members of the Black Isle Committee, who met yesterday (Tuesday, 31 January), considered applications submitted to the area’s Community Regeneration Fund. Councillors allocated all of their funding, a total of £104,636, to four projects.
The successful applicants were:
- Avoch Harbour Trust Ltd. who will deliver maintenance and servicing of the public toilets at Avoch (£2,000);
- Avoch Community Rowing Club for the provision of a boat-shed/workshop, including solar panels for powering the shed (£34,460.49);
- Ferintosh Community Hall for extensive roof works, replacing the existing tiles and underlay (£38,550.02); and
- Culbokie Community Trust Limited for the construction of a building including public toilets and a small volunteer base / tool shed (£29,625.49).
Community Regeneration Funding is an umbrella term for a number of funds that are available for communities/organisations to access in Highland. It comprises the Highland Coastal Communities Fund and the Place Based Investment Programme, both of which are Scottish Government Funding streams to support economic regeneration and sustainable development in Highland.
Councillor Lyndsey Johnston, Chair of the Black Isle Area Committee, said: “Ward members were very impressed with the standard of applications which were presented and we are encouraged by the positive work which is quite clearly being undertaken within our communities from for the benefit of local residents and visitors to the area.”
“Community Regeneration Funding plays an important role in enabling local charities and organisations across the Black Isle to deliver ambitious projects for the prosperity and benefit of our local communities”.
Councillor Johnston concluded by saying: “We would like to thank all those involved in submitting applications and we wish the projects which secured funding the best of luck”.
