Inverness High School Chosen As A School Of Ambition
Inverness High School will benefit from funding of £100,000 for each of the next three years as the result of being selected to being among the first few schools in Scotland to pilot the Schools of Ambition Programme.
The news has been warmly welcomed by the Rector, Ritchie Cunningham, and The Highland Council’s Director of Education Culture and Sport, Bruce Robertson.
The funding will allow the 470 pupil school extend its growing links with the local community and improve provision of training in information technology and staff development at the school.
Mr Cunningham said: "We are delighted that we have been granted School of Ambition status, with the associated funding. The commitment and hard work which has been done by pupils, staff and other partners in developing the ideas which will take our school forward, must have been key to our success.
"The school wasn’t starting with a blank sheet of paper but building on a Vision which has already helped to improve aspects of the school. This is excellent news with which to end a very successful school session."
Mr Robertson added: "I am delighted to hear that Inverness High School has been selected in the first tranche of Schools of Ambition. The school, its community and its partners have worked hard to get to this point in time and I am certain that they will make the most of this unique opportunity that has been afforded them."
