£100,000 For Auldearn Community

The residents of Auldearn are celebrating the news that they have received £100,000 from The Highland Council to spend on local projects which will benefit the whole village.

The money was earmarked for the Auldearn community after the Council came to an agreement with developers, MacKintosh Highland over vehicle and pedestrian access across land owned by the local authority.

Corporate Manager for Inverness, Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey, William Gilfillan said:
“We are delighted to be able to pass on the money and I am sure that the Trust has some interesting ideas on how to spend it on local projects.  We wish them every success.”

The £100.000 will be administered by the Auldearn Community Trust, a company limited by guarantee. 

Trust Chairman Will Downie said:  “On behalf of the Auldearn Community Trust, I would like to thank all those people who have put in the hard work behind the scenes to be able to secure this 100K for the village of Auldearn. Particular thanks to the Councils Housing Service and Property and Architectural Service for their superior negotiating skills and to members of the Nairnshire Area Committee in agreeing to earmark this money for the Trust.

“The money will be administered through the Trust on behalf of the village and represents a tremendous opportunity to kick start various projects in the village for the foreseeable future.”
