Over £159K Inverness Common Good Funds awarded
Three projects that will benefit students, tourism and a local community group are to receive £48,300 Inverness Common Good Funding which has been awarded by Members of The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee today.
Leader of Inverness and Area Cllr Ian Brown said: “Councillors recognise the hardship that has faced students since the pandemic as many of them were unable to work. Awards made today were to Inverness College UHI (£22,300), Visit Inverness Loch Ness Ltd (£20,000) and Merkinch Community Centre (a 2nd grant of £6,000 making a total of £12,000).
"These grants demonstrate the wide reach and importance of the Inverness Common Good Fund’s assistance in the area’s economic and social recovery from the pandemic while providing for the well-being of visitors and locals alike.”
Councillors also approved a total award of £111,272 to Inverness BID for partnership working projects in 2023/24 including:
- provision of city floral displays (£64,150);
- Operation Respect activities throughout Easter, Summer and Autumn (£11,596);
- Inverness Gull Project 2023 (£12,839) subject to a licence being granted by NatureScot.
- Inverness Community Safety Partnership (£9,700); and
- the Coach Friendly Project (£12,987).
