Young Ross musicians perform final concert.
Seventy-five young musicians of the Ross-shire Schools String Orchestra and The Ross-shire Schools Concert band, played their last concert of the 2006/2007 season recently (Thursday 26th April) in the MacPhail Centre, Ullapool High School.
A large and appreciative audience was treated to an hour’s worth musical extravaganza of lively and varied music under the batons of Rachael Snow and Rob Farmer.
The two groups also combined forces to perform Eric Coat’s “Dambusters March” and excerpts from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
Norman Bolton, Highland Council’s Music Development Officer said: “These ambitious pieces were tackled with great gusto and commitment by both groups and demonstrated clearly the ability and talent of the Ross-shire youngsters. A fantastic time was had by all on this beautiful Spring day and was rounded off with a celebratory ten-pin bowling trip.”
Both groups meet for rehearsals weekly during school term time and the members are recruited from pupils who receive their tuition from Highland Council’s Instrumental Instructors.
