Ruthven Bridge works to start next week
The Highland Council is reminding drivers that Ruthven Bridge, which crosses the river Spey on the road between Kingussie and Ruthven Barracks, will be temporarily closed to all vehicles from next Tuesday.
The closure, which will affect all vehicles, is necessary to allow for essential carriageway and waterproofing work to be carried out.
From Tuesday (2 May) drivers should follow the diversion signs that will take traffic via Aviemore. People may also choose to use the bridge at Kincraig subject to the existing weight restrictions.
The bridge will remain closed to all traffic until works on site are completed. This is scheduled to be by Tuesday 30 May.
The Council has worked with the contractor to ensure pedestrians, cyclists, and dismounted equestrians can pass through the site while the road is closed. This public access across the bridge will be maintained during evenings and weekends. Access on weekdays may vary and specific arrangements in place on any given date will be communicated by signage at the site.
