Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu a’ buannachadh Cuach na Cloinne 2023!

’S iad Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu a thog tiotal Cuach na Cloinne 2023, a’ toirt a’ chupa à Ghlaschu. Às dèidh 6 farpaisean roinneil air feadh Alba, thairis a’ Ghiblein ’s a’ Chèitean, rinn Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu a’ gnothach air Sgoil Bhàgh a’ Chaisteil sa chuairt-deireannach ann an Inbhir Nis air Diciadain 31mh den Chèitein.
’S e co-fharpais ball-coise nàiseanta, 5 air gach taobh, a th’ ann an Cuach na Cloinne. Ghabh òigridh bho air feadh na dùthcha ann an C4-7, aig a’ bheil Gàidhlig, pàirt ann. Chaidh farpaisean roinneil a chumail ann am Port Rìgh, Lionacleit, Steòrnabhagh, Inbhir Nis, Glaschu, agus an t-Òban, le na 6 sgiobaidhean soirbheachail sna farpaisean roinneil a’ gabhail àite sa chuairt-deireannach. Bhuannaich na 6 sgiobaidhean sin duais ùr, le taic bho Astar Media, aig na farpaisean roinneil.

Chaidh Cupa Cuach na Cloinne a thoirt do Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu le Marina Mhoireach, Stiùiriche Leasachaidh Chomunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG).
Chaidh duais Sàr Neach Cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig gu Struan Sutton bho Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. ’S ann airson an neach, ann am beachd na rèitirean, aig a tha cleachdadh na Gàidhlig as fheàrr tron fharpais a tha an duais seo.
Thuirt Marina Mhoireach, Stiùiriche Leasachaidh ChnaG, a tha a’ ruith a’ cho-fharpais:
“Tha e air leth mhisneachail a bhith a’ faicinn uimhir de dhaoine òga bho air feadh Alba a’ gabhail pàirt san fharpais. Thairis air na cuairtean roinneil agus an cuairt-deireannach, chunnaic sinn comas air leth aig an òigridh, an dà chuid le sgilean ball-coise agus leis a’ Ghàidhlig. Tha Cuach na Cloinne gu tur mu dheidhinn òigridh a bhith a’ faighinn tòrr spòrs, a’ faighinn cothrom coinneachadh le daoine òga eile bho air feadh Alba, agus an cuid Ghàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. Tha sinne aig CnaG air leth taingeil do Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, agus Bòrd na Gàidhlig airson an taic leantainneach do Chuach na Cloinne.”
Thuirt Shona NicIllinnein, Ceannard Bòrd na Gàidhlig:
“Mealaibh ur naidheachd gu sgoilearan Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu agus don a h-uile sgoilear a ghabh pàirt sa cho-fharpais! Tha e cudromach do Bhòrd na Gàidhlig a bhith an sàs ann am pròiseact cho cudromach do dh’òigridh gus cothroman a thabhainn dhaibh an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. Chan e sin a-mhàin ach gu bheil e cuideachd a’ togail air sunnd agus amasan a’ Phlana Nàiseanta gus Gàidhlig àbhaisteachadh. Cumaibh oirbh!”
Thuirt an Dtr Dòmhnall Weir, Oifigear Taic Gàidhlig aig Comhairle nan Eilean Siar:
“Tha Comhairle nan Eilean Siar air leth toilichte gun do chuir iad taic ris an fharpais shoirbheachail seo a-rithist, am-bliadhna seo. ’S math a rinn na sgiobaidhean gu lèir! Tha Cuach na Cloinne air a bhith air leth cudromach thairis air na bliadhnaichean ann a bhith a’ toirt chothroman dha-rìribh dhan òigridh againn Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an suidheachadh nàdarra, neo-churraicealach, taobh a-muigh na sgoile, fhad ’s a tha iad a’ dèanamh rudeigin a chòrdas riutha gu mòr aig an aon àm.”
Thuirt Comhairliche Calum Rothach, Cathraiche Comataidh Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd:
“Tha mi cho toilichte taic a chumail ri Cuach na Cloinne leis gu bheil an tachartas a’ cruthachadh suidheachadh sònraichte do dh’òigridh Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an dòigh spòrsail, agus gu bheil an cothrom aca coinneachadh ri òigridh eile bho air feadh na dùthcha. Bha mi an làthair aig a’ chuairt roinneil anns an Eilean Sgitheanach, is tha mi airson mealaibh ur naidheachd a thoirt do gach sgioba a ghabh pàirt an-diugh. Tha sibh uile nur buannaichean!”
Tha Comunn na Gàidhlig a-nis ag obair air Cuach nan Àrd-sgoiltean a bhios a’ tachairt an ath-Dhiciadain 7mh den t-Ògmhios.
Tha Cuach na Cloinne 2023 air a mhaoineachadh le Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, agus Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd, agus air a chur air dòigh le Comunn na Gàidhlig.
Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu win Cuach na Cloinne 2023!
Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu are the winners of Cuach na Cloinne 2023, taking the trophy home to Glasgow. After 6 regional competitions held across Scotland during April and May, Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu beat Castlebay Community School in the National Final in Inverness on Wednesday 31st May.
Cuach na Cloinne is a national 5-a-side football competition aimed at young people all over the country, with Gaelic, in P4-7. The regional competitions were held in Portree, Lionacleit, Stornoway, Inverness, Glasgow, and Oban, with the successful team from each competition earning their place in the final. The successful teams also won a new prize at these competitions, with new funding from Astar Media.
The 6 teams that participated in the final are:
- Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh
- Lionel Primary School
- Castlebay Community School
- Rockfield Primary School
- Craighill Primary School
- Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu
The Cuach na Cloinne trophy was awarded by Marina Murray, Development Director at Comunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG).
The Sàr Neach Cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig award went to Struan Sutton from Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. This award is given to the player that had the best use of Gaelic during the competition chosen by the referees.
Marina Murray, Development Director at CnaG, who runs the competition, said:
“It’s been excellent to have seen so many young people from all over Scotland taking part in the competition. Across the six regional competitions and the final, we saw incredible ability and skill both with Gaelic and with football. Cuach na Cloinne is about providing young people from all over the country with an opportunity to meet each other and have fun while playing football and developing their Gaelic ability and usage outwith the school environment. CnaG are very thankful to The Highland Council, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and Bòrd na Gàidhlig for their continued support with Cuach na Cloinne.”
Shona MacLennan, CEO of Bòrd na Gàidhlig said:
“Congratulations to the pupils of Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu and indeed to each and every pupil who took part in the competition! It’s important for Bòrd na Gàidhlig to be involved in such an important project for young people in offering them opportunities to use their Gaelic outwith the classroom. Not only that but it adds to wellbeing and the aims of the National Plan to normalise Gaelic. Keep it up!”
Dr Donald Weir, Gaelic Support Officer for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said:
“Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are very happy to have been able to sponsor this successful event once again. Well done to all teams involved! Cuach na Cloinne has been integral over the years in offering young people the chance to use Gaelic in a natural setting, outside of the classroom, while also taking part in an activity that they enjoy.”
Councillor Calum Munro, Chair of the Gaelic Committee at The Highland Council, said:
“I’m delighted to be supporting Cuach na Cloinne as the event creates a special and memorable occasion which allows all the young people to use Gaelic within a sporting and fun environment, and it also allows the young people to meet peers from other schools across Scotland. I was present at the heat which took place in Skye, and I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate each team that took part today. You are all winners!”
Comunn na Gàidhlig are now preparing for Cuach nan Àrd-sgoiltean, which is set to take place next Wednesday 7th June.
Cuach na Cloinne 2023 is funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and The Highland Council, and organised by Comunn na Gàidhlig.
