Inverness to mark Armed Forces Day with flag raising ceremony
A flag raising ceremony will take place on Monday, 19 June 2023 at Inverness Town House to mark Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day takes place this year on Saturday 24 June.
Armed Forces Day celebrations begin on Monday 19 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.
Provost of Inverness and Area, Cllr Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “We will honour our armed forces on the nineteenth of June in Inverness with this simple flag raising ceremony to recognise the work that they do protecting our communities and country.
“Our Armed Forces couldn’t do their job without the incredible support of their family and friends.
“Highland Council continues to support the armed forces through its lead role within the Armed Forces Covenant which is a commitment and demonstration of our support alongside our Partners, to our Armed Forces Community.
“We give our humble support in this time honoured flag ceremony to show our appreciation for the troops and their families.”
The Provost of Inverness will welcome all attending at 10:50 followed by Bart Lucas, chairman of the Inverness branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland and the flag raising ceremony will take place at 11:00 on Monday 19 June at the front door of Inverness Town House.
