Harbour Street, Nairn access and recycling
The contractor appointed to make the area around the building in Harbour Street, Nairn involved in last Friday’s fire say they aim to provide safe passing access this Friday (16 June 2023).
The plans involve erecting a safe barrier a set distance from the building.
Highland Council’s Buildings Standard team have had discussions with the structural engineer involved and a 4m width will be made available to allow vehicular and pedestrian traffic, albeit in a priority/contra-flow arrangement.
A carriageway of 2.75m will allow emergency services and service vehicles access along Harbour Street.
Household waste bins should continue to be placed on Shore Street and will be collected from there on the usual collection day.
If there are any changes to access in the area the Council will look at other ways of providing waste services to the local community.
