Charleston Academy Final Pre-Planning Application Event Update

A final pre-planning public consultation for Charleston Academy was held online on Tuesday 13 June 2023 at 6pm, where the public were presented with a revised masterplan strategy which reviewed and addressed comments received by the public at the initial first phase consultation.

At the first phase public consultation stage concerns were raised over loss of amenity green space to the south of the development and other feedback comments related to proposed car parking numbers.

The project team revisited these concerns, and the following solutions address and improve the issues highlighted:

• Footprint of the building has been reduced to minimise impact.
• Community green space has been increased by 3 times of that initially shown at the first public consultation.
• Existing playground has been retained and the basketball court replaced.
• Car parking numbers assessed and minimised the number of spaces required to the south of the building.

There is still time to view the pre-planning proposals and submit comments, feedback forms must be received by 23 June 2023 for consideration.
