Ness Castle Primary School official opening
Ness Castle Primary and Nursery School was officially opened yesterday (Wednesday 28 June) by Education Committee Chair, Cllr John Finlayson following a wonderful pupil led end of term assembly.
Education Committee Chair, Cllr John Finlayson said: “Yesterday I was honoured to be invited to officially open Ness Castle Primary School and Nursery and enjoy a tour around the new school facilities, but mostly importantly I had the privilege of being part of a wonderful pupil led ‘movie themed’ assembly to mark the end of term as the pupils and staff prepare to enjoy their summer holidays.
“The school is both fresh and modern in its new facade but also in its approach to providing first class education which is evident throughout the school. A school is at the heart of every community and yesterday signified exciting new beginnings for the vibrant community here in Ness Castle and Ness-side. Clearly the building of new schools and the ongoing improvement to our school estate continues to be a priority and with support from the Scottish Government we will hopefully see many more new schools being built across Highland in the near future.”
Ness Castle Primary and Nursery School, Head Teacher, Craig Connon said; “It was wonderful to share our successful first year as a school with all our parents and carers, as well as a host of invited guests. The children, from our ELC up to Primary 6, were confident performers for our great audience. I was a very proud Head Teacher!”
Craig Connon added: “The staff, families and, most importantly, the children absolutely love their amazing new space. The children have settled in so well and are thoroughly enjoying learning in creative and imaginative ways.”
The first class education facilities not only meet the current needs of the school community but has been designed to allow it to be extended in a phased manner to provide up to 24 classrooms to meet the future demand from housebuilding in the catchment area.
