First Ward Forums for Lochaber
The first Ward Forums for the two Highland Council electoral wards in Lochaber will take place next week.
The first of the meetings will be the Ward Forum for Ward 12, Caol and Mallaig, and will take place at 7.30pm on Monday 28 May in Caol Community Centre.
The following evening (Tuesday 29 May), the Ward Forum for Fort William and Ardnamurchan will be held in the Kinlochleven Community Centre, again at 7.30pm.
Both meetings will be held in public.
Representatives from Community Councils, School Boards, health, police and the voluntary sector have been invited, with the purpose of the Ward Forum being the effective scrutiny of delivery of council services.
It is likely that there will be 12 Ward Forum meetings each year – four covering Ward 12, four covering Ward 22 and four joint meetings.
Manager for both wards is Dot Ferguson. She said: “Ward Forum meetings will encourage real discussion with our community partners, who will be able to assess how effectively we deliver services. We will also be encouraging our partners to input their ideas about how services should be delivered.”
It is hoped that the new process of evening meetings, which will be held throughout the two wards, will make it easier for partners to discuss issues of concern with their Ward Members and encourage members of the public to attend.
