Tribute paid to former Inverness Highland Councillor
The Highland Council pays tribute to the sad passing of former Highland Councillor Norrie Donald on Friday 4 August 2023.
Convener of The Highland Council, Councillor Bill Lobban said: “Norrie was a very well-liked local Councillor and a strong supporter of his local community. His former colleagues and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends for their loss.”
Norrie had an extensive length of service to local government, serving 18 years on The Highland Council from 1999 to 2017.
Provost of Inverness and Area Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “I have very fond memories of working with Norrie who was a very supportive colleague and friend. He was a very forward thinking and popular councillor and had a great sense of humour. I missed him very much when he retired. My thoughts and deepest condolences go to his family at this sad time.”
He was elected in 1999 and 2003 to serve the Culduthel Ward and in 2007 and 2012 he was elected to serve Inverness Ness-side.
Throughout his service he was a Member of many Council committees and joint boards. In 2002 he was Vice-Chairman of the Social Work Committee; and in 2003 he was Chairman of the Transport, Environmental and Community Services Committee.
