Public consultation on Thurso traffic management

Following a request from the Ward Councillors, The Highland Council is running a consultation on how residents and visitors to Thurso feel about the current traffic management arrangements in the town, particularly parking and waiting restrictions.

Ward Councillor and Chair of the Caithness Committee, Cllr Ron Gunn said: “As part of this review of the current parking and waiting restrictions it is important that people living in, working in and visiting Thurso have this opportunity to provide their feedback.

“The consultation is running up until the end of February 2024 so there is plenty of time for anyone to pass on their views and comments. The feedback we receive will form part of the decision-making process when we consider the future traffic management arrangements for the town.”

Issues to be considered are anything related to waiting and loading (Parking).

For example:

  • Are the current restrictions fit for purpose?
  • Are there enough Loading Bays?
  • Are the time limits to short or too long?
  • Should new restrictions be considered to address new problems?
  • Should old restrictions be removed as no longer required?

The Council has a feedback form on its website for people to use to pass on their comments and any suggestions.

The consultation runs until the end of February 2024.
