Tribute paid to former Councillor Graham Ross
The Highland Council is saddened to hear of the passing of former Highland Councillor Graham Ross who was Deputy Provost and Leader of Inverness and Area.
Mr Ross was elected to serve on the Council as Councillor for the Inverness West Ward 13 in 2012 and in again in 2017. He quickly gained the respect of all who met him and was appointed as Depute Provost and Leader of Inverness and Area in June 2017.
He was a staunch supporter of his local community and proactively supported community development in his Ward for many years. Among the many activities he did for his local community many will remember him hosting Charleston Community Summer and Christmas Fetes with microphone in hand; supporting the development of the Highland Wildcats American youth football team and taking part in annual community litter picks in his area.
He led on Inverness city’s successful Events and Festivals Programme and was Chair of the City Area Recovery Group. He was also a key custodian of the Inverness Common Good Fund which he delivered as Chair of the Inverness Common Good Fund Sub Committee.
Throughout his service he was a Member of many Council committees and Boards including the City of Inverness and Area Committee, Adult and Children’s Service Committee, the Community Safety, Public Engagement and Equalities Committee; the Police Board, People Committee; Education Committee; and Highland Licensing Committee.
He resigned in May 2021 as a councillor for family reasons.
