The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.  It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Friday 1 December 2023 are as follows:

Wester Ross:

11:18am: A mixed bag of icy, damp, and wet roads with sub-zero roadside temperatures. All routes covered. Treatment of Gairloch side roads still ongoing. No reported overnight issues.

Caithness:

8:08am: Good sparkle on all routes this morning and the odd icy stretch. Treating all routes as required. No other known issues to report. 

Skye & Raasay:

7:17am: Rain and minus roadside temperatures causing widespread ice this morning, which is requiring driver caution on all routes. Rain/sleet showers affecting north west side & north Skye. Road temperatures forecast to lift from 11am. Treatments running on all Primary and Secondary routes. Please allow extra time for travel. 

Sutherland:

2pm: Ice affecting most areas this morning, treatment ongoing.

Lochaber:

7:29am: Treating as planned. Roads damp with some ice flows treated. Low temperatures. No overnight issues. 

Inverness:

7:48am: Damp roads with low roadside temperatures. Covering all routes and footpaths this morning. No known issues. 

Badenoch & Strathspey:

7:30am: Ice patches throughout the area. Light dusting of snow at the south end. All routes being treated. Drive with care is advised. No known overnight issues.

Nairn:

7:26am: Ice patches throughout the area with a light dusting of snow on higher routes. All routes being treated. No known overnight issues.

Easter Ross:

1:33pm: Cold and dry with light frost and icy patches where run-off occurred. All routes treated as required this morning.
