Highland Road Conditions Report – Tuesday, 5 December 2023
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Tuesday, 5 December 2023 are as follows:
Wester Ross:
07:26am: Cold and mostly dry across the network this morning. Strathconnon Road is icy but is being treated. In the west, mostly dry roads with high salt levels. The Fain weather station has given a critical warning and is currently being treated. All the side roads in the west are also being treated. No reported overnight issues. All treatment is ongoing.
Caithness:
8:16am: White frost with good sparkle black ice on most priority 2 (Secondary) routes. All routes being treated and on going. No overnight issues reported.
Skye & Raasay:
08:41am: Road surface temperatures well below zero with widespread hoar frost. Treatment ongoing on Primary & Secondary Routes.
Inverness:
06:09am: Roads icy, gritters starting to treat all routes.
Badenoch & Strathspey:
09:00am: Icy conditions. Treating all routes.
Nairn:
08:59am: Widespread icy conditions. Treating all routes by priority.
Easter Ross:
06:51am: All roads throughout the area are badly affected by ice. All routes being treated in order of the network priority. Extreme caution advised on all roads, until treatment has taken place, and the salt has had time to work.
Sutherland:
08:20am: Frozen slush and ice affecting most roads this morning, all routes been treated including footpaths.
Lochaber:
08:39am: Low temperatures, some hoar frost, some ice flows treated. No overnight issues.
