Highland Road Conditions Report – Wednesday, 6 December 2023
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Wednesday, 6 December 2023 are as follows:
Caithness:
8:17am: Very low temperatures again, good sparkle and a white frost with small patches of ice. All routes being treated and on going. No overnight issues reported.
Skye & Raasay:
08:37am: Sub-zero road surface temperatures with widespread hoar frost. Treatment on Primary & Secondary routes ongoing. Care required on untreated/shaded other routes. No issues reported.
Wester Ross:
Dry roads throughout the network but extremely low roadside temperatures. Air temperatures rising but caution should be advised on the odd icy spot. Winter treatment ongoing.
Inverness:
05:57am: Low roads damp, some grey frost stretches in places and light covering of frozen snow from yesterday in places on high roads. Gritters heading out to treat all routes.
Badenoch & Strathspey:
08:58am: Icy conditions. Treating all routes by priority.
Nairn:
08:59am: Icy conditions. Treating all routes by priority.
Easter Ross:
07:05am: Another very cold morning with negative surface temperatures across the whole area. Priority 1 (Primary) roads are generally very good. Priority 2 (Secondary) roads are affected by patchy frost and ice. A far greater risk of ice on the remaining lower priority routes. Surface temperatures are low enough to cause problems wherever the roads are wet and caution is advised on all routes and footpaths.
Sutherland:
08:43am: Low temperatures across the county again this morning all routes being treated as necessary, including footpaths. Icy patches with a hard frost.
Lochaber:
07:28am: Cold again this morning with road surface temperatures well below zero in most areas. Routes being treated in priority order. No issues reported overnight.
