Highland Road Conditions Report – Thursday, 7 December 2023
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Thursday, 7 December 2023 are as follows:
Caithness:
8:15am: Primary routes mainly clear, however damp and still some ice patches in areas. Secondary routes have areas of frozen slush and ice patches – treatment applied and spot gritting where necessary. Treatment on-going for footpaths, some small ice patches getting treated. No overnight issues reported.
Skye & Raasay:
08:25am: No winter action. Positive road surface temperatures throughout.
Wester Ross:
06:42am: Air temps above zero and road surface temperatures rising throughout the morning. Treatment on going. No overnight issues reported.
Inverness:
06:18am: Icy patches on high roads, low roads wet. Gritters starting to treat all routes.
Badenoch & Strathspey:
08:55am: Roads damp or dry with icy patches. Checking and treating all routes as required. Temperatures rising.
Nairn:
08:56am: Roads damp or dry with icy patches. Checking and treating all routes as required. Temperatures rising.
Easter Ross:
06:39am: Surfaces temperatures are rising this morning with no known issues on any previously treated roads and footpaths. Footpaths in Culbokie, Munlochy and North Kessock are still icy and treatment will be ongoing in these areas this morning.
Sutherland:
07:53am: Primary routes mainly damp roads. Secondary routes contain icy patches and sections of frozen slush on higher ground – these areas are being treated.
Lochaber:
07:06am: Road surface temperatures above zero and rising this morning. No issues reported overnight.
