Highland Road Conditions Report – Thursday 21 December 2023
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Reports for Thursday 21 December 2023 are as follows:
Easter Ross
09:32 - Positive temperatures and wet roads. No winter issues but windy conditions are causing lots of tree debris, broken branches, and fallen trees. All roads are currently open but that could change at short notice.
Skye and Raasay
08:17 – Positive road surface temperatures throughout. No winter action required.
Lochaber
08:27 – There are positive road surface temperatures, but it was very wet and windy overnight. There are reports of trees down in various locations throughout Lochaber area which are being dealt with, The C1162 Glen Nevis has reopened after staff cleared a large fallen tree.
Wester Ross (Ward 5)
07:17 - Positive road surface temperatures overnight across the network. No Winter service required. No reported overnight issues.
Badenoch and Strathspey
07:10 – Positive temps throughout the area. No winter action needed and no known overnight issues.
Sutherland
06:14 - Positive road surface temperatures throughout this morning, no winter action required. U2126 Strath Oykel Road, Rosehall closed at bailey bridge following flood warning from SEPA.
Inverness
09:24 – Roads are wet but no problems.
Nairn
07:10 - Positive temps throughout the area. No winter action needed and no known overnight issues.
At the time of issue, there are a number of schools and nurseries closed today.
Our school closure webpage is updated from 8am and cleared by 6pm each evening.
The Met Office have issued a Yellow Warning for snow and ice for Highland (Friday and Saturday) All weather warnings are available on the Met Office website (external link) (external link).
