Highland Road Conditions Report – Wednesday 10 January 2024
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Reports for Wednesday 10 January 2024 are as follows:
Badenoch and Strathspey
08:36 - All routes being treated this morning. Frost and Ice patches across the network. No known overnight issues.
Nairn
08:35 - Damp roads throughout the area with the odd frost patch. All routes being treated. No known overnight issues.
Skye and Raasay
08:28 - Coldest overnight road temperatures this year with road surface temperatures dropping to minus 8.7C. Widespread hoar frost with some icy patches across the network.Treatments running by priority. No overnight issues to report.
Sutherland
08:06 - Hoar frost with odd icy patches reported across the area. All routes currently being treated in order of priority. No known issues.
Ross & Cromarty - East Group
07:58 – Road surface temperatures remain negative although higher than yesterday. Light precipitation in the form of drizzle. All primary routes checked and treated no issues reported. Secondary and higher others have a grey frost. Treatment ongoing this morning. No reported overnight issues.
Lochaber
07:48 - Treatment carried out as planned. Very low temperatures, some frosty roads with iceflows. No problems overnight.
Inverness
07:46 – A cold morning and a light dusting of snow last night. Crews are covering all routes and footpaths. No known issues.
Ward 5 Wester Ross
07:42 - Still very cold and dry. All routes are being checked this morning. There were no reported overnight issues.
Caithness
07:27 - Temperatures higher than forecast with a mix of dry and damp roads with high salt levels from previous applications. Some routes are affected by ice. Treating some routes as a precaution. No known overnight issues to report.
At the time of issue, there are no schools or nurseries closed today as a result of bad weather. Our school closure webpage is updated from 8am and cleared by 6pm each evening.
