Garage and Garage Sites rent increases agreed for Inverness Area

Highland Council owned garage rents for the Inverness area will increase by 7.95% for 2024/25 as agreed at today’s City of Inverness Area Committee.

Tenant consultation on the general rent increase for Council house rents for 2024/25 was based on options for 6.5%, 7.3% and 7.95% rent increase.

Councillors agreed that for Council tenants:

  • Garage Rents will increase from £6.86 to £7.41 per week.
  • Garage Sites weekly rents will increase from £1.14 to £1.23.

…and for non-tenants:

  • Garage Rents will increase from £8.23 to £8.88 per week.
  • Garage Sites weekly rents will increase from £1.37 to £1.48.

As a result of the garage rent increase, total income will rise from £121,534.08 to £131,196.04.

Leader of Inverness and Area, Cllr Ian Brown said: “For some time now Inverness garage rents have not been in line with the Highland average.

“The decision made at today’s committee meeting to raise garage rents with a modest increase will be applied as an increase to the area repairs budget.”

Members were advised that the Council is carrying out a review of garages and garage sites across the Inverness area – the results of which – Councillors will be updated on at their future Ward business meetings.
