Drivers urged to slow down near two more Highland schools

Motorists are being warned that 20mph speed restrictions have been introduced at two more schools in the Highlands for children’s safety.

A full-time 20mph speed limit is now in force within the vicinity of Tore Primary School.

Part time 20mph speed limits are at Kilchoan Primary which will operate when pupils are expected to be arriving or departing from the school.

Drivers travelling near Kilchoan Primary should be aware that the 20mph part time speed limit applies on school days from: 8:45 to 9:00am and 3:15 to 3:30pm, when pupils are normally arriving at and departing from the school.

Motorists are reminded that if they speed in the vicinity of Highland schools then the penalties will be tough. The Highland Council, Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Highlands and Islands Area) are clear that if motorists are caught speeding near Highland schools where a 20mph limit is in place, then robust enforcement action will be taken by both the Police and the Procurator Fiscal Service.
