Inverness Area Roads capital programme approved for 2024/25
Members of the City of Inverness Area Committee agreed a list of proposed prioritised roadworks which will be funded out of Highland Council’s Capital Budget allocation for 2024/25.
The local allocations capital budget for 2024/25 remains to be established, which will be calculated from the approved capital budget allocation.
The estimated area capital roads’ programme is currently based on previous years’ baseline £7.2m Highland Area Roads capital budget allocation. Therefore, the estimated local allocation for the Inverness area is £946,676 (£531,656 for overlay/inlay works and £415,020 for surface dressing works).
Leader of Inverness and Area Cllr Ian Brown said: “Given the extremely difficult financial circumstances that The Highland Council now faces in setting its budget for 2024/25 – the Inverness Area roads capital programme is based on a previous year’s baseline budget with a small inflation increase, without any additional funds received.
“Members were given the opportunity to review and agree the proposed resurfacing and surface dressing programmes at their Ward business meetings and I am pleased that today we have agreed a number of programmed schemes that can be prioritised for capital funding allocation.”
Councillors have agreed funding allocations for 16 specified locations for roads resurfacing works and a budget of £110,000 for major patching for all Inverness Wards. They also agreed funding allocation for 40 locations for surface dressing works.
Details of the prioritised road works schemes for the Inverness area can be viewed in the budget report appendices 2 and 3 at the following link.
Members noted that should the approved 2024/2025 budget differ significantly from the £946,676 baseline budget, then the programme will be adjusted as appropriate.
