Highland Winter Road Conditions Report - 9 February 2024
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Friday 9 February 2024 are as follows:
Ross and Cromarty East
06:27 - Road temperatures hovering around 0c first thing. A light precautionary treatment to Priority 1 and 2 roads. No known issues.
Wester Ross
06:42 - Routes mostly dry with icy patches. No overnight issues.
Nairn
06:58 – Negative temperatures throughout the area with frost and ice patches. All routes being treated this morning. No known overnight issues.
Badenoch and Strathspey
07:00 - Light dusting of snow on all routes this morning with negative temperatures. All routes being treated this morning with no known overnight issues.
Lochaber
07:27 - Breezy with mostly dry roads and good salt levels across the area. No issues reported overnight.
Skye and Raasay
07:29 - Minus road surface temperatures this morning but dry roads overnight with residual salt. No overnight issues to report.
Caithness
08:08 - A mix of damp and sparkling roads, hard packed snow on some routes and some roads have had a fresh dusting of snow in areas overnight. Drivers report bits of slush in places but blading off what they can. Routes are currently being treated by priority. Footpaths treatment also ongoing. No known overnight issues to report.
Sutherland
08:24 - Roads mostly clear on low ground, odd icy patches and slush residue. Up to 75mm snow on the highest routes. All routes currently being treated in accordance with policy. No known issues.
Inverness
09:09 - Wet roads with low road surface temperatures this morning. Treating all routes and footpaths. No known issues.

At the time of issue, there was one school closed, Scoraig Primary and Nursery. Our school closures page is updated from 8am and cleared by 6pm each evening.
