Highland Winter Road Conditions Report - 13 February 2024

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.  It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Tuesday, 13 February 2024 are as follows:             

Skye & Raasay

08:02 - South Skye gritters stood down at 06:10am this morning. Road surface temperatures marginal in North Skye during night and early morning and subsequently Primary Routes have been treated.

Nairn

06:41 – Ice across the network this morning.  Primary and Secondary routes being treated as well as foot ways.  No known overnight issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey

06:39 - Negative temperatures with ice across the network. Primary and Secondary routes being treated with footpaths.  No known overnight issues.

Lochaber

07:50 - Routes treated this morning.  Temperatures higher than forecast with wet roads.  No other issues reported.

Caithness

08:32 - Main (Primary) routes damp, Secondary and Other routes have a mix of white frost and icy stretches.  All routes being treated and also town paths.  No issues reported.

Sutherland

08:03 - A lot of ice on the east coast routes with wet roads on the west.  All routes treated accordingly.  No known overnight issues.

Inverness

06:33 - Roads icy, gritters out treating all routes.

Wester Ross (Ward 5)

10:05 - East side of Ward 5 was very cold but all treated.  West side was wet and windy.  No overnight issues reported.
