A’ Chomhairle a’ toirt taic do threas Seachdain na Gàidhlig
Bidh Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd a’ toirt taic do threas Seachdain na Gàidhlig, a bhios a’ comharrachadh Gàidhlig na h-Alba air feadh an t-saoghail.
Bidh cuspair na bliadhna seo ‘Do Chànan. Do Chothrom’ a’ ceangal dhaoine gus a bhith a’ cur air adhart, a’ cleachdadh is ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig tro lìonra co-òrdanaichte de thachartasan a bhios a’ gabhail àite air feadh na h-Alba agus gu h-eadar-nàiseanta, bho 19–25 Gearran 2024.
Tha an iomairt a’ faighinn maoineachadh is taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig agus tha Sgioba Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd a’ cur air adhart cleasan is tachartasan ann an sgoiltean.
Tha pailteas de choimhearsnachdan air feadh na Gàidhealtachd a’ gabhail pàirt, eadar seiseanan criadhadaireachd aig Ionad Thròndairnis san Eilean Sgitheanach is clasaichean gluasaid is ciùil aig Sgoil Dannsa Cheryl Heggie ann an Inbhir Nis.
Thuirt Cathraiche Comataidh na Gàidhlig, an Comhairliche Calum Rothach: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte fàilte a chur air Seachdain na Gàidhlig a-rithist am-bliadhna agus tha mi an dòchas gun còrd an t-seachdain ribh ge be càite am bi sibh.
“Bu mhath leam taing a thoirt dhan a h-uile duine a bhios a’ gabhail pàirt ann an cleas no tachartas an t-seachdain seo, gu h-àraid gach leanabh sna bun-sgoiltean agus gach neach òg sna h-àrd-sgoiltean. Bidh tòrr a’ dol air adhart anns gach àite – air-loidhne agus anns na coimhearsnachdan againn. Mar sin, tha mi a’ guidhe fìor dheagh Sheachdain na Gàidhlig dhuibh agus ’s dòcha gum faic mi cuid agaibh an àiteigin no uaireigin tron t-seachdain.”
Bidh Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd a’ cur suas teachdaireachdan air na meadhanan sòisealta (ainm-àite an latha) tro Sheachdain na Gàidhlig.
Am-bliadhna, airson a’ chiad turas, thèid bùithtean-obrach air-loidhne a chumail gach latha airson sgoiltean, agus bithear a’ tabhann ghoireasan a bhios freagarrach do sgoiltean le diofar ìrean eòlais air a’ Ghàidhlig – eadar fìor luchd-tòiseachaidh is feadhainn a tha fileanta. Thathar a’ brosnachadh sgoiltean ùidh a chlàradh aig: https://seachdainnagaidhlig.scot/education/.
’S e Latha na h-Abairt Gàidhlig a bhios air Diardaoin 22 Gearran agus thathar a’ brosnachadh dhaoine de gach aois, ge be dè an eachdraidh a th’ aca fhèin agus ge be dè an ìre de Ghàidhlig a th’ aca, film beag a chlàradh dhiubh fhèin a’ bruidhinn na Gàidhlig agus seo a chur suas air na meadhanan sòisealta leis an taga-hais #SeachdainNaGàidhlig2024 no #LathaNahAbairtGhàidhlig.

Council supports third Seachdain na Gàidhlig (World Gaelic Week)
The Highland Council will support the third Seachdain na Gàidhlig (World Gaelic Week), which aims to celebrate Scottish Gaelic across the globe.
This year’s theme of ‘Your Language. Your Opportunity’ will connect people to promote, use and learn Gaelic; through a coordinated network of activities taking place across Scotland and internationally, from 19 – 25 February 2024.
The initiative is funded and supported by Bord na Gàidhlig and The Highland Council’s Gaelic Team is providing activities and events in schools.
A host of communities across the Highlands are taking part, from pottery sessions with Ionad Thròndairnis in Skye to music and movement classes at the Cheryl Heggie School of Dance in Inverness.
Gaelic Committee Chair Cllr Calum Munro said: “I’m very happy to welcome Seachdain na Gàidhlig again this year and I hope you enjoy the week wherever you are.
I would like to thank everyone who will be taking part in an activity or event this week, especially all primary school children and young people in high schools. There will be plenty going on all over the place – online and in our communities. So I’m wishing you a great Seachdain na Gàidhlig and perhaps I’ll see some of you somewhere or sometime during the week.”
Highland Council will be posting social media messages (place of the day) throughout Seachdain na Gàidhlig.
This year’s festival will also see daily online workshops for schools take place across the country for the first time, offering resources and workshops that are tailored to suit schools with all levels of Gaelic experience – from total beginners to fluent speakers. Schools are encouraged to register their interest at https://seachdainnagaidhlig.scot/education/.
Thursday 22 February will be dubbed Say a Gaelic Phrase Day, with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds encouraged to film themselves speaking the language and share it on social media, using the hashtag #SeachdainNaGàidhlig2024 or #SayAGaelicPhraseDay.
