Lochaber Parking Charges and Tariffs 2024/25
Lochaber Area Committee met Tuesday 14 May 2024 and noted income of £381,023.25 and a further £25,414 (Invitation to pay) from car parks fees across Lochaber throughout 2022/23 and agreed to regulation changes to proceed with amendments to Traffic Regulation Orders at 8 sites to allow mandatory charging and a minimum fee of £3 at all locations. It was also agreed by Members to proceed with amendments to parking charges, including increasing the tariff for 24hr parking to £10.00, and to raise the short stay duration from 3hrs to 4hrs at View Forth Car Park to encourage longer stays in the Town Centre retail outlets.
Lochaber Area Committee Chair, Cllr Kate Willis said: “The parking charges and tariffs review brought to Committee was welcomed. Members support the tariff increases and the introduction of mandatory charges at key sites across Lochaber. This will boost income generation and direct 50% of the net income fees to area level, enabling the opportunity to direct available funds to community priorities.
Members also noted the early tariff proposals for the Glencoe Village Visitor Car Park that is being developed with the Glencoe Village community.”
In March 2024 a Notice publishing a new set of Tariffs for Highland Car Parks was issued to be implemented on 11 April 2024. This followed Councils decision to amend tariffs to a minimum fee of £3 at all locations.
