Corran Ferry fares increase and traffic webcams in operation

Corran Ferry fares will increase from 29 July 2024.  Fares were frozen last year (2023/24) when the service suffered significant service outages due to vessel breakdowns.  Multi-journey discount book prices were frozen at the current rates for three and a half years since 2020/21.

At a special meeting held on 29 February 2024 to discuss the Revenue Budget, Council tax and the Highland Council medium-term financial plan for 2024/25 to 2026/27, Members agreed increases for all Council fees and charges.

  • Private and light goods vehicles, new drive-up fare for cars will rise by £1.00 from £10.00 to £11.00.
  • Minibuses up to 16 seats and caravanettes will rise by £1.00 from £14.00 to £15.00.
  • Motorbikes, which saw a larger rise at the last fares increase, will remain at £5.00.
  • The new cost of a multi-journey book of 30 tickets will rise by £3.50 to £80.30 (was £76.80, equating to a rise of 12p per journey from £2.56 to £2.68).
  • New commercial fares include artic lorry £52.00, a rise of £3.70 from £48.30 and bus/coach (36 seats & over) £29.20, a rise of £2.10 from £27.10.

The full list of fares will be displayed on the Corran Ferry webpage.

The Corran Ferry traffic webcams will shortly be in operation to allow people ‘real time’ viewing of the marshalling areas at Ardgour and Corran. The live traffic webcams are provided to assist the travelling public in journey planning, showing the extent of the ferry queues, including busy periods, special events or service disruption. This equipment was requested by the community to better manage wait times for crossings, particularly during the summer months.  The camera views are low resolution and show the extent of the ferry queue only. The live traffic webcams once in operation, can be viewed here.
