Corran Ferry support vessel Maid of Glencoul refit update – 30 August 2024

The Corran Ferry Service – The MV Corran is operating as normal while her support vessel, the Maid of Glencoul has been undergoing a substantial overhaul.

The overhaul and steering system repair are completed, and extensive testing and sea trials took place in the Rothesay area to the satisfaction of specialist engineers and skippers.  Next steps to enable the return of the vessel to Ardgour is the MCA licencing, certification and final sea trials which are due to take place week commencing 2 September 2024.

Economy and Infrastructure Committee Chair, Cllr Ken Gowans said: “The Maid of Glencoul refit and steering system repair is now completed. The Maid of Glencoul will be utilised as a support vessel for the MV Corran, and whilst it undergoes its annual refit during the winter months.

“We, the council, have been committed to returning the Maid of Glencoul back to service as a soon as possible and the timely overhaul to the vessel will ensure that she returns to service in the best condition possible.

“I’d like to thank the team involved in her extensive repairs and I look forward to following her return to Ardgour in the coming weeks, and I am sure everyone will be very pleased to see her back on the Loch.”
