Road Closure at B851 Flichity Bridge, Strathnairn

Motorists are being advised by The Highland Council that in addition to the current part-time road closures of the B851 at Flichity Bridge, Strathnairn (south of Inverness) due to end tomorrow Friday 6 September that a further part-time road closure is required on Monday 9 September between 0900 and 1600.

This additional day is required to complete this essential carriageway resurfacing works due to progress being slowed by the weather and some technical difficulties on site.

The current Diversion for all vehicles (HGV’s and Light Vehicles) will continue to be in operation via the B861, A8082, B862 between the hours of the part-time Closure.  No local diversion for light traffic is available due to the south junction of the minor Brin-Dunlichity-Balnafoich Road with the B851 being within the extents of the works.  This is also to protect this fragile road from excessive damage.

Afternoon School transport will be affected and the same arrangements currently in place will continue on Monday 9 September.

Service buses during the closure period will re-route via the diversion.

Waste collections will be re-routed.
Existing Diversion signs will remain in place.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.

When the Closure concludes at 4pm Monday 9 September, traffic will be routed on the newly improved B851 carriageway and over the new Flichity Bridge as the on-site temporary diversion will be removed.  Traffic will continue under temporary traffic lights until the completion of the overall scheme works.

Highland Council apologise for the continued inconvenience and appreciate the public’s patience while these works are carried out.
