Inverness Winter Festival musical advent calendar

The Inverness Winter Festival’s Musical Advent Calendar will open for the first time at 1pm on Saturday 1st December in the Victorian Market in Inverness.

Twenty four lunchtime performances marking the countdown to Christmas have been organised by The Highland Council’s Traditional Music Co-ordinator Margo Maclennan and local Fiddle player Irene Fraser.

Included in the top line up of performers who have been assembled for the concerts are Fiddlers Gordon Ferguson, Dana Jamieson and Irene Fraser; Accordionists Michael MacMillan and Matthew Maclennan; Piper Andy Maclennan, Guitar and Mandolin player Bob Massie, and Whistle player Hugh Marwick and Harp & Clarsach Player Hannah Phillips.

Garek Begg, Chairman of Inverness Business Improvement District Steering Group said: “The musical advent calendar has been devised as a demonstration project by the BID team to show businesses the type of activities which a BID can initiate.

“The Victorian Market is a great venue in which to stage these performances and we are really looking forward to creating a very musical Scottish atmosphere in there each day.

“If businesses vote ‘yes’ for a BID in March, the whole community can look forward to more events which will make the city a more attractive place to visit at any time of the year.”
