£27k of voluntary parking income added to Nairn Common Good Fund
Nairnshire elected members – who met for their Area Committee meeting today, Monday, 4 November – received an update on the Invitation to Pay Parking Scheme for the 2023/24 financial year.
The Scheme, under which visitors are invited to pay a donation for parking at three locations within Ward 18, has been in operation since May 2021 at The Harbour, Cumming Street and The Maggot Car Parks.
For the 2023/24 financial year, the three carparks within Nairn generated £27,857 in net income and this will be paid to the Nairn Common Good Fund.
This is in line with Council policy that the net income, after costs, is passed to the relevant Area Committee as earmarked funds.
Chair of the Committee, Cllr Michael Green said: “The Invitation to Pay Scheme has successfully been running in Nairn now for a number of years and these voluntary contributions for parking are a much-welcomed income stream which is used for the benefit of local communities across Ward 18.”
