Highland Winter Road Conditions Report – Wednesday 20 November 2024
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice - A chance of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice.
School closures can be found here. Many schools and nurseries are impacted by the adverse weather and are either closed or with delayed opening this morning.
Highland Road Conditions Report for Wednesday, 20 November 2024 are as follows:
08:29 - Sutherland - Low temperatures throughout, snow accumulations on all routes from 1-5", drifting on some inland routes. All routes treated accordingly. Snow gates on Struie Hill closed last night due to adverse weather. No known overnight issues.
06:30 - Ross & Cromarty (West)- Extreme caution is advised this morning on all the Ward 5 network. There was a heavy fall of snow last night and only essential journeys should be considered.
05:38 – Inverness - Snow on most roads this morning with more expected throughout today. Main routes okay, caution advised particularly on rural and side roads. Treating all routes as resources allow. A833 being used as a diversion this morning, due to an incident on A82. No other known issues.
08:00 - Caithness - Light covering of snow affecting all routes this morning, with most routes staying below freezing all day. All routes being treated as necessary. No known issues to report.
08:54 - Lochaber - All primary and secondary areas affected by snow and low temperatures, treatment on going throughout the area.
08:36 - East Ross-Shire - Snow at all levels with up to 4" on the higher roads. All resources are deployed, including footpath tractors. All routes are being treated and ploughed where necessary. Treatment will be ongoing throughout the day. Caution is advised on any untreated surfaces.
08:57 - Skye and Raasay – Light covering (1-3cm) of snow throughout area. Treatment currently ongoing on Primary & Secondary Routes with hand spreading on footways.
06:06 – Badenoch and Strathspey - Snow on most roads this morning with more expected throughout today. All routes being treated, caution advised particularly on rural and side roads. No known overnight issues.
06:07 – Nairn - Snow on most roads this morning with more expected throughout today. All routes being treated, caution advised on rural and side roads today. No known overnight issues.
