Highland Winter Road Conditions Report – Friday 22 November 2024
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice - A chance of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice. Currently on Saturday the warning changes to amber for snow and ice as Storm Bert is expected to bring a spell of heavy snow, leading to some disruption on Saturday.
School closures can be found here. Schools and nurseries are impacted by the adverse weather and are either closed or with delayed opening this morning.
Highland Road Conditions Report for Friday, 22 November 2024 are as follows:
08:26 - Sutherland - All routes affected with ice, and snow on higher ground up to 75mm-100mm in places. Some routes still experiencing heavy wintry showers. All routes currently being treated in order of priority, and ongoing. No known issues.
06:52 - Ross & Cromarty (West)- An icy start this morning, snow and ice being cleared and treated across the network. All routes out, including footways. Bealach na Ba remains closed, all efforts to re-open will commence this morning. All treatments are currently ongoing. No reported overnight issues.
08:25 – Ross & Cromarty (East) - Negative road surface temperatures across the area with good sparkle and icy stretches across the network, particularly where snow melt has occurred. Some fresh snow at higher ground but no significant accumulations. All routes including footways being treated this morning. No overnight roads related issues reported.
06:00 – Inverness - Icy conditions this morning, treating all routes and footpaths as resources allow. No known issues
08:02 - Caithness - Mix of damp and icy stretches on the roads, with an odd bit of hard packed snow remaining. All routes being treated as necessary. No other known issues to report.
08:57 – Lochaber - Low surface temperatures and thaw combined has resulted in ice conditions on carriageways throughout Lochaber. All Primary routes are treated & completed with Secondary starting.
08:25 - Skye and Raasay – Widespread icy patches throughout this morning. Treatment ongoing on Primary & Secondary Routes continuing onto other routes as resources allow. No issues reported overnight.
06:44 – Badenoch and Strathspey - Icy conditions throughout the area this morning with some fresh snow overnight. All routes being treated. No known overnight issues.
06:44 – Nairn - Icy conditions throughout the area this morning with some fresh snow overnight on higher routes. All routes being treated. No known overnight issues.
