Highland Winter Road Conditions Report – Monday, 30 December 2024

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.  It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Monday, 30 December 2024 are as follows:    

Inverness (07:26) Positive temperatures this morning with heavy rain.  No winter action and no known issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey (08:30) Heavy rain overnight causing issues with surface water.  Positive temperatures so no winter action needed.

Nairn (08:31) Heavy rain overnight causing issues with surface water.  Positive temperatures so no winter action needed.

East Ross-shire (06:39) Positive temperatures but heavy rain through the night and this morning causing minor flooding issues on roads across the area.  Care advised if driving.

Lochaber (10:25) Very heavy rain overnight with lots of surface water on all routes.  Positive road surface temperatures.  No winter treatments required.

Sutherland (08:39) Heavy rain overnight with lots of surface water on low ground and up to 2cm of snow/slush on higher routes.  All routes being treated as necessary.

Caithness (08:12) Heavy rain, but positive road surface temperatures.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (07:13)  Heavy rain causing stranding water on roads.
