Highland Council steps in to provide public bus service

The Council’s in-house bus service is stepping in to deliver a service following the announcement by Stagecoach that they would no longer be providing the Ness-Castle/Holm Park/Ness-side/Dores Road/Inverness City bus service.

Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said: “I’m delighted to announce that Highland Council Buses has been able to provide a replacement bus service which will start on Monday 13 January.

“I’d like to thank our bus staff for their quick action to step in and make all the necessary arrangements, so the public are not inconvenienced in any way. This is a route that services several housing developments and many people depend on having a reliable regular bus service into and out of the city centre. This clearly demonstrates the advantage of having an in-house bus service.”

The bus service will follow the existing route from Ness Castle terminating at Castle St and will operate 6 days a week (Mondays – Saturdays). It will be numbered service 16.

Details of the timetable will shortly be available on the Highland Council Buses dedicated webpage and Facebook page.
