Highland Winter Road Conditions Report – Friday, 10 January 2025
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Friday, 10 January 2025 are as follows:
Inverness (06:23) Low road surface temperatures throughout the network but dry overhead. Caution still advised. Treating all routes and footpaths, no known issues.
Badenoch and Strathspey (06:00) Negative temperatures and ice across the network this morning. All routes being treated as well as footpaths.
Nairn (06:00) Negative temperatures and ice across the network this morning. All routes being treated as well as footpaths.
East Ross-shire (08:53) Road temperatures are very low this morning making any hard packed frozen snow very stubborn to shift. Priority 1 and 2 roads are generally good but with temperatures low, ice is still a possibility in shaded areas. All routes are being treated but caution is advised.
Lochaber (09:09) All priority 1 routes completed, secondary and other routes getting done, footpath treatment ongoing. Very low road surface temperatures this morning – some roads with patchy black ice. No problems overnight.
Sutherland (08:29) Low temperatures throughout the network this morning , primary one routes have a light covering of snow with icy stretches, side roads have hard packed frozen slush / snow. All routes being treated including footpaths.
Caithness (08:38) Low temperatures this morning. Good sparkle on priority 1 routes, with frozen snow on most priority 2 routes.
Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (06:41) Sub-zero temperatures across the network this morning. Treating all routes and footpaths. Caution is advised this morning. No overnight issues reported.
Skye and Raasay (07:31) All routes had a fresh fall of snow yesterday late evening which froze due to very low overnight temperatures. All routes are being treated as per policy and this will continue throughout the day. Footpaths are similar with treatment underway as resource allows. Salt bins and salt heap replenishment continues as resource allows. Caution advised when traveling as challenging conditions continue.
