Council’s In-house bus service extends popular Nairn service

The Highland Council’s In-house bus team are delighted to announce that from Monday 3 February 2025 the route of the regular 253 service bus in Nairn will be extended to include Nairnside.

The extension follows a request from some Nairnside residents who asked if providing a service bus through their village was possible. The In-house team have diverted their  successful 253 service from Nairn/Piperhill/Cawdor/Croy/Culloden Battlefield to include Nairnside.

Chair of the Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said: "One of the key benefits of having our In-house service is we have the ability to be flexible so we can provide services to meet the needs of local communities. This is a real time example of this working on the ground, and I am sure having a regular service will prove popular and bring benefits to even more people.”

A bright red double decker bus will be serving the route. It will operate a hail and ride pickup and will travel through the village towards Inverness city centre at 10:08 Monday to Thursday and do the return journey from Falcon Square at 13:50 Monday to Thursday.
