Snapshots in time

The Highland Council’s Archaeology Unit is hosting a series of events to raise awareness of - and encourage the public to contribute to – the Highland Historic Environment Record (HER) by recording the rich past of the highlands.  The events are called ‘Snapshots in Time’ and are part of Highland Archaeology Fortnight 2007.

Members of the public are encouraged to bring a photograph, old or new, digital or printed, of a site or historic building for it to be added to the record.  We would very much like to hear of newly identified sites; of additional information about sites that we know about; of an update on the condition of a site; or of any old photographs or newspaper cuttings – essentially any details that would enhance the information held in the Historic Environment Record.

The events are carried out in association with the WEA Exploring Your Past Project and Highland Council Libraries. They are open to all and are suitable for ages 8+ with parent or guardian.

The events are taking place at the following venues:

• Inverness Library (Reference Room), 2pm - 4.30pm, Wednesday 3rd October
• Tain Library, 10.30am - 1pm, Thursday 4th October
• Dornoch Library, 2pm - 4.30pm, Thursday 4th October
• Ullapool Library, 2pm - 4.30pm, Monday 8th October
• Muir of Ord Library, 10.30am - 1pm, Wednesday 10th October
