Remember, remember the 5th of November
The Highland Council have confirmed that this year’s Inverness Civic Bonfire and Fireworks Display will be held in Bught Park, Inverness on Monday November 5th.
Hosted by the Council’s Education Culture and Sport Service, the fireworks display is traditionally one of the most popular and spectacular family events staged in the Highlands each year.
Sponsored by The Highland Council and the Inverness Common Good Fund and supported by the Highland and Islands Fire Rescue Service, Northern Constabulary, British Red Cross and Scottish Ambulance Service, the event is designed to provide a safe alternative for anyone who is thinking of buying their own fireworks or organising their own bonfire.
This year’s Inverness show will be staged by the award winning Fireworx Scotland Display Team who will use computer aided ignition and sequencing to co-ordinate the 20 minute display to music.
The event will start at 7pm with the judging of the entries in the annual Guy making competition by Provost Bob Wynd, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Inverness City Committee.
Drivers are reminded that Bught Road will be closed for the duration of the event to non-residents and that only Blue Badge Holders will be allowed to park in the disabled car park that will be in operation on the night.
The outer field which normally houses the car parking at the Highland Games will not be available as it will be used to accommodate the bonfire, the funfair and the spectators’ viewing areas on Monday night and it is recommended that all spectators set off early.
Gerry Reynolds, Highland Council’s Events Officer said: “We appeal to anyone who can leave their car at home and walk to the Bught to do so and ask anyone who intends coming by car to allow themselves plenty of time to find a space in the car parks located around the City Centre and have an enjoyable stroll along the banks of the River Ness to the Bught.”
