Tree Felling At Tomnahurich Cemetery, Inverness

The public is being advised that The Highland Council will be carrying out essential tree felling and maintenance work to dangerous trees along the eastern boundary of Tomnahurich Cemetery in Inverness, which, between 5-19 November, will require temporary access restrictions to allow the contractor to install heavy machinery to carry out the work.

The trees, most of which have grown to over 50 feet, are considered a health and safety risk for residents, including many elderly people resident on Bruce Gardens and Bruce Avenue. 

The Council’s Burials and Cremations Officer Jeff Fridge said:  “This essential work is long over-due and is necessary to address serious health and safety issues local residents have about the trees bordering their homes.” 

The Council has sent out letters advising local residents of the work and have also arranged for notices highlighting the access restrictions to be erected in the cemetery.
