Women’s No Pay Day
The Highland Council support the Women’s No Pay Day campaign and is committed to eradicating any pay inequalities in its pay structures to ensure equal pay for all its employees.
The Council has already paid out in excess of £8 million to more than 2,500 employees (predominantly women) in respect of a potential equal pay liability for the period to 30 September 2006. The Council will negotiate with the trade unions over any potential ongoing equal pay liability from that date.
A meeting has already been scheduled between the council and the trade unions for 16 November to discuss a new pay structure for almost 10,000 employees in line with the national single status agreement, which will address equal pay issues.
