New Recycling Centre For Dingwall

Local firm, M.M. Miller, have been contracted by The Highland Council to build the new facility on a site in the Dingwall Business Park. 

It is expected that up to 60% of the material that is taken to the new Recycling Centre will be recycled which will help towards reaching the Council’s 18% recycling and composting target.  Householders across the Highlands produce approximately 1 tonne of waste per year, of which only 9% was recycled last year.

The new Recycling Centre will be a staffed facility where many household items such as cans, car batteries, engine oil, electrical goods, garden waste, glass bottles and jars, paper, scrap metal, textiles, tyres and wood can be deposited.

Funded by the Scottish Strategic Waste Fund, the Centre is due to open in November with the creation pf two new jobs.

Householders in Ross-shire should also look out for the new paper and can banks that are being distributed to Recycling Points throughout the area which will compliment the existing bottle banks and provide even more opportunities for more household waste to be recycled.
