Eann Joins Caithness Regeneration Partnership

Thurso man Eann Sinclair has been appointed programme manager for the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership.

The partnership, formed last year, aims to drive forward new initiatives to counteract the effects which the decommissioning of Dounreay nuclear plant will have on the area’s economy.

Eann is currently head of strengthening communities with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and takes up the CNSRP role vacated by interim postholder Gordon Cox.

Chair of the CNSRP Sir Anthony Cleaver said: “This role is vital to the successful delivery of the regeneration partnership’s action plan. Eann Sinclair brings broad experience both of Caithness and of the challenges ahead. He also brings an understanding of all the stakeholders involved, the ability to co-ordinate all their strengths and the commitment to do it well. I am delighted to be announcing his appointment.”

Eann attended Thurso High School and graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in Scottish and English Literature before gaining an MSc in Tourism. Married, with a six year old daughter, Eann is a keen traveller and musician. He joined HIE in 1991.

The CNSRP is co-funded by HIE, The Highlands Council, the Scottish Government and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

Alistair Dodds, chief executive of The Highland Council said: “The partnership has already made good headway on its published action plan and our collaborative approach is allowing progress to be made without the hindrance of duplication.  I am delighted Eann is joining the partnership at this exciting stage and I very much welcome the expertise he will be bringing to its work.”
