Disruption At Kingussie High School

Secondary 1 and 2 pupils at Kingussie High School are being advised to stay at home until Tuesday 23 August as the result of flooding which has affected at least four main teaching classrooms in both the first and second floors.

Secondary 3-6 pupils are advised to attend as normal as repairs are carried out to the areas worst affected by water damage.

Eddie Broadley, head teacher of the 409-pupil school, has written to all parents to update them on the building problems being experienced in the school.

He explained that a flooding problem had been experienced from the top of the building which had rendered at least 4 main teaching classroom unusable.

He said: "It will be some days until the rooms are made completely watertight and repair works can be started. For this reason it will be necessary to ask all pupils in S1 and S2 not to come to school until Tuesday morning 23rd.August at 8.45am. All others in years S3 through S6 are asked to come to school as normal. From next Tuesday we will be operating a displaced class timetable until all the remedial works are completed in the affected classrooms and I will be asking for the continued patience and co-operation of all staff and pupils through what will be a period of significant disruption which may last for 3 weeks. Throughout, our main objective will be to maintain learning and teaching as far as is possible for all pupils attending the school."
