Invergordon Invitation

A Local Councillor hopes residents in Invergordon will be inspired to support their own residents group following the success of other similar groups in the area.

Residents in Invergordon living between the railway line and the port, and between Johnny Foxes and the west end of the High Street, are invited to come along to a public meeting next week (Monday, 27 June) to officially adopt  the constitution of the new Invergordon Oldtown Residents Association and elect its first committee.  Everyone over the age of 18 living in this area has a vote and can join the committee.

The meeting is being held in the Invergordon Arts Centre on Monday, 27 June at 7.30pm.

Cllr John R Connell said an enthusiastic residents group could make a real difference to this neighbourhood.

"Most people in Invergordon will know the difference a successful residents group can make to their local community.  I would urge residents in this area to come together to make sure they take a role in improving their part of Invergordon and their homes," he said.

"As we all know, by getting together and addressing common concerns, things get done!"

A full copy of the proposed constitution is available for people to see in advance of the meeting in the Invergordon Service Point.  This draft constitution was developed by volunteers following an initial public meeting held in May to measure interest in setting up a residents group.

Anybody interested in setting up a residents group in their area should contact Carol Elliot, The Highland Council, Tenant Participation Officer, on 01349 868685.
